In a few weeks, you’ll be moving out of your apartment and into your first home. It’s an exciting time, but it’s also pretty stressful! Packing a two-bedroom apartment worth of things is a tiring process.
You need to find a way to score some boxes as well as pick up all the other essentials. The last thing you want is to lose out on a day of packing because you forgot something.

Boxes
The first thing on your list should be boxes. Without them, you’ll have nothing to put your stuff in, right? Something important to keep in mind is, not all boxes are created equal.
If you put all your heavy books in a medium-sized box that you scored in a dumpster somewhere, they’re probably going to come out of it. You’ll need a sturdy small box. Sort of like the ones that laundry detergent comes in.
Your clothes can go in a regular old medium-sized or large cardboard box. The cloth is pretty light, so your shirts and pants aren’t going to put too much of a strain on the material.
For expensive items like your TV, it might be best for you to eat the expense and buy a specialty box. The same goes for your picture frames and fine china.
Packing Paper and Bubblewrap
The last thing you want is for your glass cups to knock together in the Miracle Movers truck. You’ll need to keep your fragile items protected using bubble wrap and packing paper.
If your budget is a bit thin, you can use newspaper instead of buying the standard packing materials. You should note that it doesn’t provide the same amount of cushion as bubble wrap, though.
Tape
You need a way to seal your boxes, or it sort of misses the point of putting your stuff in them. The moving company will have a rough time getting your things in the truck without it falling out everywhere.
It can be tempting to get the cheapest tape on the market, but that’s not going to do you much good. Most of the time, budget tape equals thin. It’s not going to stick to the cardboard.
Go ahead and spend a little more to get the good stuff. If you are worried about money, you might be able to save some cash by purchasing it in bulk.
We also recommend grabbing a tape gun. It will make the packing process go so much faster.
